Zostera Marina Niche Ecosystem
This research examines the ecological needs and spatial conditions for Zostera marina (eelgrass) in a changing climate. As restoration efforts fail at historic sites, this research reframes eelgrass not as a static species to be replaced, but as an active agent in evolving marine landscapes. Through climate analysis, sediment studies, and site-based evaluation, the project identifies conditions for eelgrass persistence and proposes adaptive design strategies. Bridging ecology and landscape research, it offers a critical framework for rethinking restoration, emphasizing responsive, site-specific interventions over historical replication.
