Snow Bank investigates snow upcycling as a climate-adaptive infrastructure strategy, drawing from case studies of snow management at airports across the U.S. Snow Bank proposes a multi-scalar, community-based system to repurpose winter snow for district cooling in East Boston. As snowstorms grow erratic and summers intensify, the project reframes snow as a seasonal resource. A dispersed network of storage sites collects snow in winter and releases cool air in summer, reducing urban heat and easing snow removal pressures. These sites also serve as public gathering spaces, forming a resilient and collective urban commons.
